Indigo Structure
Indigo is a four-year flexible doctoral programme, which can be structured to meet individual students’ needs. In the first year, students undertake taught modules provided by staff from Trinity College, Dublin, University of Oxford, Harvard University and Columbia University. Generally, Year One can include time in Dublin and New Work, depending on individual needs, as well as an internship at the Human Sciences Research Council, South Africa, where they may be attached to a research project in their area of interest.
The following three years will be spent researching and writing-up individual research projects in students’ chosen fields, under the supervision of an international panel of experts. During this time, students will usually be based at one of our African partner universities: University of Malawi, Makerere (Uganda), Ibadan (Nigeria) or Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). Successful students will be awarded a joint degree from the universities at which they have registered.
